Recently, things in our office are getting tougher as time passes by. High targets, New metrics and for some, pressure is “on” since the company is removing those people who's not able to at least meet the targets. I'm seeing a lot of new faces now in the company. Some agents already left, some are about to leave and the worst part is that they are those who are close to my heart. People that somehow helped me go this far, people I consider my security blanket. These events in the office make me feel low and awful. It somehow affected me in ways I can't explain. I can feel the negative aura all over the office as we waved goodbye to those people we use to see everyday. I can also name some people who are so agitated in leaving the company. Their reason? For one, it's the lack of self motivation.
As I think about their dilemma, I asked my self. What are the things that keep my motivation up?! I listed few things that keep me on track. Hope this helps you as these ideas helped me.
MONEY
Let's admit it! We all work to be compensated. I consider my work as my bread and butter. I won’t be able to experience the luxury of buying things like clothes, gadgets, vacation and tours. Having a cup of coffee at starbucks will not be possible without extra money in my pocket. And I won’t be able to support my mom with her maintenance meds. I always keep in mind that I am only able to survive each day because of the work that I have. Mind you, working in a call center will give you good compensation.
HIGHER POST
At this very moment, this is what’s keeping me going. There’s this promotion in our office that does not require any job interview or examinations to pass. You just have to pass three consecutive Score Cards without any absences. And that requires passing all the metrics and meeting all the targets of the client and the company. Also, you have to get a high professionalism grade which will be given by your immediate supervisor. Professionalism rate will be based on attendance and behavior in the office. So why not come to work and perform at you best if the reward will be your dream title.
SALARY INCREASE
Once you get that dream title, you’ll be able to enjoy the additional perk that comes with it. The company will give you an additional 5% increase of your basic salary and a chance to apply for a higher position. Another thing, as you move up the ladder, you also become more marketable. I don’t want to be hypocrite but with what is going on in our country, money matters most. So if ever you have a chance of getting additional increase on what your currently getting or getting promoted, grab it. Don’t let it pass you by.
Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.

My view about Savings
I wrote before in my previous entries that I’ve wanted to save part of my money from my income for the future and to save some in the bank. I told my self that starting this year I will start living simple. I’ve had a lot of expenses last year. Some were planned and some were not. This time I hope that I could somehow save some of my moolah or if not hopefully I could invest my money on something valuable or something worth buying. I find my friends Mimi and Ginger envious because they can manage their money well. I mean, they’re good. They would rather go home early and refuse to go out with friends just to bank some moolah for their future. Not that they’re not happy going out with friends and they don’t think that out of town vacation is such a waste of money but they would rather see it grow in the bank. I love the way they think, it’s so futuristic, they always think a head of time.
I am one of those few who were able to take a glimpse of Mimi’s notes in her planner. She’s so detailed with how her life would be after retirement. She also has this certain computation of her daily, weekly and monthly expenses and from there she computed her annual savings. I admire her for that. Meanwhile, Ginger has this attitude of investing her money on worthy things. Like for instance, her house and lot. Imagine at the age of 26, she already owned a house and lot. Not only that, she was able to complete most of the appliances and furniture in her house. She also owned a motor bike which serves as her means to go to work.
Things aren’t going smoothly as I planned it. I attempted to cut my expenses and tried to save some of my money but obviously, I failed. I’ve had a lot of out of town trips with my friends, shopping here and there; eat out with my closest friends, out of town trip again this time with my family and my usual personal expenses. Well I guess I never really tried to live as simple as possible. Maybe I’m too adventurous and I want to go out as much as I would. Maybe I find it lovely to chat with my friends while we eat out. I find it relaxing when I sing my heart out as we sing in karaoke. I find happiness in the clothes and accessories that I buy.
I may not be able to save big in the bank or I may not have my own house and lot, but I find those memories and time I spent with my love one’s an investment in my heart that I will cherish forever. It may sound cheesy but that’s how I see it. Anyway, I believe that I’m too young and it’s too early for me to start banking or start investing but still, I will never stop trying and maybe little by little I could get those Mimi and Ginger attitude.

Gabby’s Accident
As I’ve written in my previous blog, my friends and I went to Bohol for adventure. I’ve had a lot of good memories during my stay but there’s this incident that happened to Gabby (The name of my Samsung Corby phone). We were by the shore me, Jaja and Ice so we’ve decided to take some picture of us. Jaja invited me to sit beside her and said “tara lubog tayo”, and so I did. Little do I know Gabby is still in my pocket. I literally screamed when I got into my senses and remembered that Gabby is inside my pocket. I immediately pulled Gabby out and checked him. He was all wet and his screen is totally blank, sign that his damaged. All this happed because of my recklessness. I was in deep remorse when I saw that his not operating anymore. We were on our second day that time when this happened. It bothers me every time I recall what happened to Gabby. I’m stupid, yeah I know.
When I got home, I immediately send Gabby to the nearest hospital (nah just joking, I send him to a repair shop). I first tied my luck at Samsung Business Center at Robinsons Galleria. They don’t do repairs at the Business Center so they referred me to somebody who can but I was given a heads-up that there is only a 50-50 chance that Gabby will be repaired. I was advised to talk to the technician at the SMILE shop also located at Galleria. And so I did. The technician did some few checking used some device I don’t know but he said something that made my eyes sparkle like stars. He said that Gabby could be repaired it’s just so happen that he does not have enough equipments and tools to fix him. Again I was referred to the nearby shop. With all hopes up, I walk off to that shop. I talked to the technician and told him what happened. He was nodding when he heard my story (hey! I know I’m stupid okay!!). So he did some estimation and said that he can do it. I leave them with my contact number so at least they could message me on what had happen. He said that there is no assurance that Gabby will be fixed but if so then I’ll have to pay P1000.00 which I guess I fine and reasonable, though my friends told me that that is too much. I guess I’m just desperate in wanting my Gabby to be fixed. . He told me that if all went good then probably by tomorrow Gabby will be ready.
The next day at around 12nn, I received a text message from the technician saying that Gabby is now okay. I literally jumped when I read the message like I won the lottery. I went straight to the repair shop to claim Gabby. I checked him right away and it seemed that he is doing fine now. I let the man at the Samsung Business Center checked him also just to verify. All seemed good with Gabby now and as peace offering I bought him a silicon case.

Bohol Adventure
Another adventure was set for the “starbeks” and this time we were off to go down the south. We finally made it to Bohol. This get away was planned after our Baguio Trip which happened last January of the same year. Since that trip our group dreamed of travelling to different places. We even see ourselves travelling outside that country but we just settled to go to places that were feasible and those were the places here in the country. They say that some things won’t go right when it is carefully planned. I say it is not. Thanks to the big sis of the group LenLen, she handled our adventure very well, she is very organized. She settled everything from the plane ticket and resort reservation to the itinerary of activities. I really want to thank her for that.
Excitement anchored by great joy and stress free mind will surely lead you to ecstasy. This is what I felt when I first step in the NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport). It was my first time ride an airplane and hell yeah it was a blissful moment for me. I have nothing but good words to describe how I feel when I experienced travelling the air thru the plane.
We safely landed at the Tagbilaran Airport.Kuya Victor (our tour guide) is already waiting for our arrival. We immediately started the tour and headed straight to our first destination. First on the list was the Blood Compact site then The Butterfly Conservatory (The place was really nice) where we had a short rest and ate noodles for breakfast. We also took a short moment at the Hanging Bridge and strike wacky poses at The Man Made Forest. I was able to take some pictures of the famous chocolate hills which I thought I could only see in the book. I also whispered my wish when I prayed at the Baclayon Church. We had our lunch during our short cruise at the Loboc River. Food is great and the ambiance is really nice. With our tummies full, we head straight to the Tarsier Sanctuary where we silently laugh at those sleepy little mammals and took some pictures of them as well. After that last stop, we went straight to the resort and had a short nap. Earlier that night we had our dinner at the sea side. That is when I realized that I am indeed in a vacation. I feel like nothing can destroy my night since I am filled with nothing but good vibes. Later that night, we decided to stroll along the side of the beach to feel the cool breeze of air and water. We found this bar that plays feel good music so we decided to watch and have some ice cold beer. It has been a very tiring day for all of us so we decided to catch some sleep in preparation of tomorrow’s activities.
We started the next day with a boat ride. We are ready for some dolphin watching. It was another first time experience for me, riding a boat and chasing dolphins. I can’t believe I saw dolphins with my own eyes. We went straight to Balicasag Island for our snorkeling. With all our gear ready, we started feeding small fishes while we watch them closely as they swim. The blue sea, the corals and the fishes were simply fascinating. We had some fresh squid and fish for lunch before we set off to our next destination. Fifteen minutes away from the Balicasag Island is the undiscovered yet very beautiful Virgin Island. This is a must visit place at Bohol. I hope there is a resort that could accommodate us there. I really wish we could’ve stayed longer. But the next time I’ll visit Bohol, I’ll make sure to stop by Island and savor every moment and everything it has to offer. We leave the island and went back to Alona Beach Resort as our tour has already ended. But the fun does not stop there. We are still yet to enjoy the beach. We spend all of our remaining time playing with the sand, enjoying the cool water of the sea and the heat of the sun. Oh, we also had henna tattoos. We ended the day by eating pasta and pizza at Cusina Italiana.
The next day is our last day at Bohol. We had breakfast at Marty's Powder Keg. Their servings are for persons who have big appetite. Jaja and I shared a plate of three eggs, pork and beans, Hungarian sausages, bread, marmalade, and a glass of iced tea. When I thought our tour is over, Kuya Victor reminded us of the Bohol Bee Farm which is very famous in Bohol. We had lectures on farming, checked out some plants and of course, BEES. We were informed that they serve organic foods in their restaurant so we opted to try few of their dishes. We had seafood lasagna, organic pasta and salad greens with flowers. Yes, flowers. I thought the idea is weird same as with the taste or maybe I’m not used to eating flowers. We bought some pasalubong and then flew back to Manila.
It was one trip that I will never ever forget. All was nothing but fun, excitement and full of great experiences. Bohol is indeed the place to be.

The Prophets' Team Building
Having fun and to unwind was the major goal for this said team building. I personally don't know much about my other teammates so this was my chance to get to know them. It was hard to ask all of them to come because some have their reasons not coming. In the end it was, I guess, ten or twelve of us who arrive in the hotel.
Actually it is not our plan to spend the bonding here in the city. Initial plan was at Punto Miguel at Batangas but unfortunately only few will be available. So we've decided to look for nearer place so all could come. I just really hope we could go out sometime, like really go out with the whole bunch. I bet that would be more exciting.
March 01, 2010 was the day we set our foot on Lancaster Hotel in Shaw Boulevard at Mandaluyong. This was my very first experience staying in a four star hotel. The place was nice and cozy. There were 3 rooms(master's bedroom has a flat screen TV), 3 comfort rooms (with blower, complete toiletries and a bath thub.. really nice), kitchen (complete with kitchen tools), dinning and living room. The package is also inclusive of breakfast for three. There's also a swimming Pool & Bar located at the roof deck. If I'm not mistaken, we stayed in the Lancaster Suite which supposedly would cost us much moolah but with my boss' connection, we got it in discounted price (thanks boss!). Staying in this hotel made me feel like I'm uber rich.. HAHA..
On the other hand, most of the team are girls so I was kinda worried with my boss. Most of us share the same interest which, I suppose not his. The only time that I recall our boss was into our conversation was when we propose a friendly game to improve the team's performance. To be honest, I don't think that we need this said event to make us become closer because those people who came already knew one another. So I just treat this as one of those beautiful experience I had with the team.
I wish the next team building will be more fun and exciting. Hopefully all could come. I wish for more action and when I say action, our loco motor skills will be in use. What about paint ball.. hmm..
